Job Summary And Qualifications

The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the department's specific requirements and standards of practice. Performs diagnostic tests, therapeutic procedures, and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.

What you will do in this role:

• Perform and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
• Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
• Assist with placement of artificial airways. Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
• Monitor patient response to therapy and notify providers as needed.
• Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
• Respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and ventilation during resuscitation.

Qualifications needed:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 1 year of employment.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) must be obtained within 1 year.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 1 year.
• RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) certification must be obtained within 1 year.
