We're looking for a highly motivated respiratory therapist who wants to collaborate with nurses, physicians, and others using RT-driven protocols to provide exceptional care for our patients. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 525-bed academic medical center and the region's only Level I trauma center. It is also home to Nightingale, the first hospital-based air ambulance in Virginia, and Sentara Heart Hospital, the area's first and only dedicated heart hospital. Our high-acuity, specialized units include nine ICUs (burns, neuro, vascular, cardiac, general medicine, and progressive ventilation).
As a respiratory therapist at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, you will learn advanced practices such as esophageal balloon-guided ventilation, lung protective ventilation, and monitoring indices to reduce ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI). Our respiratory-driven protocols enable the use of tools like APRV and Volumetric Diffusive Respiration. Our proactive approach is praised by physicians, nurses, and colleagues. We also offer a residency program to equip new hires with the necessary tools and support, emphasizing understanding the science behind procedures and encouraging proactive thinking. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility with the region's only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit. It serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.
