This position involves patient care in critical care areas, step-down units, and general care units.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:
Education: HS/GED required. Must be licensed by the ASBRT and credentialed by the NBRC. A Certified Respiratory Therapist credential is minimum; Registered Respiratory Therapist is preferred. PALS and ACLS certifications are preferred; these must be obtained within one year if not already held. BLS certification is preferred initially and mandatory after orientation.
Experience: Clinical experience gained during respiratory training, capable of functioning in critical settings, including initiation and support of mechanical ventilation. Experience with intubation and patient transport is preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities: Excellent communication skills, ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with frequent task changes. Capable of performing procedures related to EKG, Bronchial Hygiene, Oxygen Therapy, Respiratory Diagnostics, and Mechanical Ventilation. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required.
