Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week) weekend program at Advocate Christ Hospital & Medical Center. Night shifts (6:30pm-7am) with weekend differential, and comprehensive benefits including a $20,000 sign-on bonus, loan forgiveness up to $20,000, and tuition assistance up to $20,000.

The role involves patient assessments, ventilator management, collaboration with physicians, and education of patients on therapy goals while adhering to safety

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program with a minimum of an associate degree.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the state of practice.
• NBRC credentials: RRT within 12 months or CRT if credentialed before 2023.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers (AHA) certification.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients using respiratory therapy processes and a range of diagnostic skills.
• Operate ventilators and assist with bedside or other physician-driven procedures.
• Administer prescribed medications and therapies.
• Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment and ensure patient safety.
• Educate patients and families on therapy goals and self-care.
• Collaborate with other departments to optimize patient care.
• Deliver clear handoffs and adhere to clinical policies and safety standards.
