As our most acute level of care, our specialty hospitals offer the same critical care patients receive in a traditional hospital or intensive care unit, but for an extended recovery period. Our clinicians play a vital role in the recovery process for chronic, critically ill and medically complex patients.

As a Respiratory Therapist-SAU, you will:

  • Plan, implement and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory services to assist in the management of patient/residents with cardiopulmonary and related disorders. Provide technical support for all equipment related to the nursing center based practice of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Provide training and competency testing to nursing department.
  • Provide/coordinate clinical respiratory services under physician orders.
  • Perform respiratory/clinical assessments.
  • Consult with physicians and healthcare professionals regarding patient/resident status.
  • Monitor patient/resident progress and update respiratory care plan as part of the comprehensive plan of care.
  • Provide general respiratory therapeutic services including oxygen therapy, medical gas therapy, aerosol therapy, humidification therapy, and suction therapy.
  • Educate patients/residents and families regarding relevant diseases, medications, equipment, purposes of procedures, steps, benefits, risks, and alternatives.

Minimum requirements include:

  • Associate Degree from an accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Licensing as required by the state of employment.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) preferred; Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required for supervisory positions.
  • One-year clinical experience in respiratory therapy.
