Respiratory Therapist (RT) - Weekend Program

  • Weekend differential of $11 p/hr, as part of Weekend Program***
  • Sign-On Bonus Available***

Location: Advocate Condell Medical Center - 801 S. Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville

Shift: Night Shift (3rd)

FTE: 0.9 (Full-Time)

Summary

Responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive respiratory care. The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory care procedures and modalities in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Using evidence-based practices, clinical decision making, and skilled communication, the therapist leads efforts to create a safe patient environment and positive patient experience across the continuum.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Supports assessment of patients using skills such as pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiograph, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, and blood gases/electrolytes.
  2. Operates specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care settings. Assists physicians with bedside procedures.
  3. Provides medication treatments and therapies as prescribed by physicians or protocols.
  4. Maintains and troubleshoots equipment, ensuring proper functionality and identifying repair needs.
  5. Educates patients on therapy purpose, techniques, and self-care.
  6. Collaborates with other departments for clinical problem solving and education.
  7. Adapts to policies and performs tasks as assigned, maintaining performance standards.
  8. Communicates effectively, providing clear patient handoffs and feedback.
  9. Promotes safety, reports safety events, and assists in implementing corrective actions.
  10. Precepts and educates new team members and students.
  11. Provides care appropriate to patient age, understanding growth and development principles.
Licensure, Certification, and Education
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state.
  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA.
  • Graduate of an accredited respiratory care program with at least an associate degree.
Experience and Skills
  • No experience required.
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills and electronic medical records.
  • Excellent communication and human relation skills.
  • Time management and multi-tasking abilities.
Physical Requirements and Conditions
  • Ability to operate necessary equipment.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs, perform transfers, and utilize safe body mechanics.
