Job description

Responsibilities

The Respiratory Therapist (RT) provides approved Respiratory Care Services to Grand View Health inpatients and outpatients of all ages and demographics.

As a Respiratory Therapist at Grand View Health, your duties include working in the ER for emergency treatments, conducting STAT blood gases, initiating bi-pap therapy, and assisting in one of three Trauma Bays. You will also staff the Pediatric and Labor and Delivery Floors, with the pediatric unit staffed 24/7 by CHOP physicians.

Essential functions of the Respiratory Therapist include:

1. Performing ventilator management
2. Maintaining patient respiratory care charts according to medical record guidelines to ensure complete documentation of care delivered
3. Educating patients and their families about their conditions and teaching proper disease management techniques
4. Performing arterial blood gas draws and analysis
5. Inserting and monitoring A-Lines
6. Supporting compliance with organizational policies, established practices, protocols, and professional standards
7. Promoting a culture of safety for patients and staff through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention
8. Responding to rapid responses and codes

Grand View Health is a community non-profit Level 2 Trauma Center with 200 licensed beds located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: An Associate’s Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. Refer to regulations for qualifications for individuals licensed prior to 2002. Licenses and Certifications:

• CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) by the NBRC, required upon hire
• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) by the NBRC, required upon hire
• Licensed by the PA State Board of Medicine (or Osteopathic Medicine) as a Respiratory Therapist, required upon hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS), required upon hire
