Job description

Respiratory Therapist Needed for Spaulding Hospital

Summary

Perform activities in diagnostic evaluation, therapy, life-sustaining techniques, and education of patients and families across all age groups, neonatal to geriatric. Requires high expertise in ventilator management and sophisticated diagnostic procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform respiratory procedures according to established guidelines.
  2. Conduct clinical assessments for all age groups, including breathing patterns, ABG interpretation, CSR, pulmonary waveforms, and other non-invasive monitoring.
  3. Communicate patient’s clinical condition report effectively, including key care plans.
  4. Provide respiratory therapy consultation and support to healthcare team members.
  5. Complete documentation and billing following Meditech policy.
  6. Maintain respiratory devices and interventions per manufacturer and department guidelines.
  7. Provide clinical resource support daily for respiratory staff and the facility.
  8. Participate in additional departmental, organizational, or network activities as per objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

Education/Degree Required: Associate's Degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred. For Senior Respiratory Therapist: Bachelor's degree or equivalent and five years of registered respiratory therapy experience required.

Licensure: Registered Respiratory Therapist; Current Massachusetts Respiratory Care License.

Skills and Certifications
  • Basic and advanced respiratory skills.
  • BLS certification.
  • Computer proficiency; Microsoft Office applications preferred with ability to learn new software.
  • Flexible work schedule including evenings, holidays, weekends, and travel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing situations.
  • Attention to detail.
