Banner Churchill Community Hospital in Fallon, Nevada is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (PRN) to provide respiratory care and diagnostic testing across settings. You will operate ventilators and support patient monitoring with a team of clinicians.

The role requires NBRC RRT, Nevada license with Blood Gas certification, and BLS. Prior acute care experience is preferred. Work on a PRN basis with 12-hour shifts to cover PTO and sick time.

Qualifications

  • Nevada license with Blood Gas Technologist certification.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible for company auto insurance.

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Banner Churchill, you will be part of a team that consists of highly engaged individuals who work well together to meet the needs of the patient. You will be offering a wide range of programs and services to aid in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness in all stages of life, from infant to geriatric.

As our PRN RRT, you will be working on an as needed basis, with 12-hour shifts to fill in when needed for PTO and Sick Time.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position independently provides respiratory care, pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic testing to patients in a variety of health care settings.

CORE FUNCTIONS
  • Performs all basic modalities of respiratory care as prescribed by physicians and/or licensed independent practitioners in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures.
  • Applies and manages mechanical ventilators in collaboration with physicians and/or licensed independent practitioners, recommending adjustments to improve clinical condition, patient comfort and to expedite the weaning process.
  • Assembles, disassembles, operates, maintains, troubleshoots, cleans and performs adjustments in the applications of durable medical equipment and circuitry used in the delivery of respiratory care as prescribed in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic testing as prescribed in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs patient assessments and evaluates patient response to care provided, making recommendations to physicians regarding the plan of care, appropriate use of respiratory therapy and modification of therapy as clinical condition changes. Documents therapy provided in an accurate and complete manner in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures.
  • Communicates and collaborates with resource staff in formulating care plans, recommendations for change in therapy and identification/resolution of problems.
  • May supervise department staff.
  • Independently provides respiratory care, pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic testing to patients in a variety of health care settings. May be assigned to a variety of areas throughout the system where respiratory care is needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS

DP - Typical Direct Patient Care environment: (Nutrition Rep, Chaplain, RN) Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently. Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs. Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision. Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects. Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair. May be required to lift up to 75 pounds. Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids. Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone. May require periodic use of personal computer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate or technical degree.
  • Proof of having passed the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • RRT required for all new hires to the position after October 1, 2015.
  • Incumbents in the position as of October 1, 2015 must possess their RRT by October 1, 2017.
  • A current license in state practiced as required by state law. In the state of Nevada, all incumbents must have their Blood Gas Technologist certification.
  • Banner Registry positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in the specialty area.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • In Home Care setting, must posses valid drivers license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
  • Must possess highly effective human relation skills necessary to interface with patients, families, staff and other healthcare personnel.
  • Employees working for Banner Home Care AZ must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
