Join Our Team as a Casual Respiratory Therapist at UPMC Lock Haven!

Are you a dedicated Respiratory Therapist looking for a flexible and rewarding opportunity? UPMC Lock Haven is seeking a passionate and skilled individual to join our team on a casual basis. This role offers the chance to work rotating 8 and 12-hour shifts, with a minimum requirement of 36 hours per 6-week schedule, plus one major holiday per year.

*We will consider CRT, RRT, and all levels of the career ladder. The final title and pay will be determined by education, experience, and certifications.

About the Role:

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide essential respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities. Working under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, you will deliver high-quality care across all patient populations and service areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assess patient conditions by reading prescriptions, measuring arterial blood gases, and reviewing patient information to determine treatment requirements.
  2. Administer inhalants and medications, ensuring compatibility with physician’s orders and observing necessary precautions.
  3. Assist in transporting mechanically ventilated patients and respond to all code situations.
  4. Maintain detailed patient charts and order repairs when needed.
  5. Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees and other healthcare personnel, and supervise students during training.
  6. Set up and operate respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring optimal treatment parameters and safe, efficient function.
  7. Evaluate medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient outcomes.
  8. Monitor patients’ physiological responses to therapy and perform necessary procedures, including bronchopulmonary drainage and pulmonary function tests.
  9. Consult with physicians in the event of adverse reactions.
