Job summary

Advocate Health’s Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta, NC seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist for full-time night shifts. You will deliver respiratory therapies, manage ventilation support, and monitor patients across age groups in a high-demand hospital setting.

Requirements include AMA-approved respiratory care education, NC licensure as an RCP, BLS, and within 90 days PALS/NRP and ACLS certifications. Strong communication and multitasking skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved two- or four-year respiratory care program.
• RRT NBRC registered and licensed to practice as an RCP in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• PALS and NRP required within 90 days of employment.
• ACLS required within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapies following department policies and age-appropriate standards.
• Initiate and maintain mechanical ventilation and airway support as needed.
• Report routine clinical procedures to relief personnel for continuity of care.
• Perform and maintain competency for point-of-care testing in line with policy.
• Provide invasive and non-invasive monitoring to ensure patient safety.
• Maintain professional knowledge and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure age-specific care guidelines are followed for all patient groups.

Pay Range:
$30.70 - $46.05

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

• Location: Alleghany Memorial Hospital, Sparta, NC
• Shift Schedule: Full Time, Nights

YOU’LL NEED:

• Graduate of an AMA approved two or four-year program for respiratory care or satisfies the requirements as outlined in the admissions policies of the NBRC for registry examinations.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and licensed to practice as a RCP in the state of North Carolina required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Peds: PALS and NRP required within 90 days of employment.
• Adult: ACLS required within 90 days of employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
• Provides respiratory therapies, following age appropriate standards of care and departmental policies and procedures throughout the hospital.
• Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation and airway support following age-appropriate standards of care.
• Reports routine clinical procedures regarding patients to relief personnel to ensure continuity of care for the patient. Performs and maintains competency for point-of-care testing, as assigned, ensuring compliance with WFBH policies and with applicable state and federal regulations.
• Provides invasive and non-invasive monitoring to ensure patient safety and appropriateness of care.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge and ensures QI to enhance service to customers.
• Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient care is provided in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
