Position Overview

UPMC is seeking a full-time Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team of Life Changers. This is a Night Shift position requiring working every 4th weekend and two minor and one major holiday per year. Purpose

Under the general direction of a physician, provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies. Demonstrates advanced knowledge in respiratory care and performs duties across all patient populations and areas.

Responsibilities

1. Administer high-risk modalities (e.g., Nitric Oxide, TGI), perform advanced functions in various settings, and conduct procedures such as bronchoscopy, ABG analysis, and pulmonary function tests.
2. Monitor patient responses, perform breathing exercises, evaluate medical orders, and maintain patient charts.
3. Operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, assess patient conditions, and consult with physicians.
4. Serve as Lead Respiratory Therapist in the absence of supervisors, provide training, and support problem-solving.
5. Complete required projects and maintain certifications as specified.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory program or equivalent experience and NBRC Certification.
• Minimum 2 years respiratory care experience, with at least 1 year in critical care.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Must complete an approved project annually.

Licensure and Certifications

• CPR/BLS, NRP, and other relevant licenses and clearances as per state requirements.
• RRT credential from NBRC required; PA and MD licensure as applicable.
