Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist II (RRT) at Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC, to work full-time nights (7pm–7am) with weekend coverage. The Respiratory Care - Adult department seeks a compassionate professional to deliver expert patient care within a collaborative team.

Applicants should have relevant licensure and a strong background in critical care and patient education.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 Year / Associate Degree required.
• 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Current RCP licensure in appropriate state required.

Responsibilities

• Act as a patient advocate and incorporate education into the interdisciplinary care plan.
• Prioritize duties according to patient needs and acuity, ensuring timely care interventions.
• Administer and evaluate medication therapies and transfer patients as needed.
• Provide routine and advanced respiratory care, including ABGs and ventilator management in critical care.
• Demonstrate independence in Respiratory Care per state requirements and standards.
• Perform crisis management in critical care (code blue, airway management, blood gas analysis).
• Document care in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do

• Acts as a patient advocate for the patient and their support system by incorporating education in the interdisciplinary care plan.
• Prioritize job duties according to patients' needs and changing acuity levels and ensures timely completion of care interventions, medical orders, etc.
• Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers and transports patients.
• Ability to evaluate patient needs and provide appropriate routine respiratory care such as ABGs, bronchial hygiene therapy, etc., as well as perform higher levels of care in critical care areas and emergent situations.
• Demonstrates independence in the specialty of Respiratory Care. Practices according to state requirements and standards.
• Critical Care Specific: Ventilator management, code blue, airway management, interpretation and intervention with blood gas analysis, use of all related protocols for patient care.
• Document care in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current RCP licensure in appropriate state, required.
