Performs all modalities of respiratory therapy, including manipulative diagnostic, therapeutic procedures, and maintains records for patients with abnormal respiratory conditions, all in accordance with established procedures.

Qualifications
  • Administers therapy treatments such as therapeutic gases, humidification, aerosol therapy, breathing exercises, and broncho-pulmonary drainage to patients of all ages.
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using manual techniques or mechanical ventilators for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • Administers medications as prescribed, charts all treatments and patient reactions, and maintains departmental records.
  • Participates in emergency situations and ongoing training programs.
  • Monitors patients on mechanical ventilation, makes rounds, and documents care.
  • Assists physicians and nurses with procedures like intubation and blood draws.
  • Transcribes physician orders and advises on therapy modes.
  • Checks supplies, maintains equipment, and ensures safety.
  • May participate in training new staff and students.
  • Participates in Risk Management and Infection Control programs.
Qualifications
  • Associates degree required; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • IL Respiratory Therapist license required.
  • CRT or RRT Certification required.
  • CPR and ACLS required; NRP preferred.
