Job summary

Luminis Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver respiratory therapy modalities per department standards and collaborate with care teams to support patient recovery.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree, NBRC credentialing, Maryland license eligibility, and current BLS certification; you will assess therapy effectiveness, document care, operate equipment, and monitor patients throughout treatments.

Responsibilities

• Administers medical gas therapy in accordance with department procedures.
• Evaluates appropriateness and effectiveness of therapies per standards; collaborates with senior staff.
• Reviews charts and documents care accurately according to policy.
• Operates and maintains equipment safely and sanitarily; returns equipment after discharge.
• Monitors patients during therapies and responds to adverse reactions per policy.

Job description

Position Objective:

Provides respiratory therapy modalities included in the scope of practice to patients according to the department standards.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Administers medical gas therapy in accordance with all department procedures.
2. Evaluates appropriateness and effectiveness of therapies for continuation or discontinuation according to department standards. Prepares and collaborates with advanced practitioners and clinical specialist to implement respiratory care plan.
3. Reviews charts per department policy, i.e. orders, lab values, chest x-rays, etc and document care provided accurately and consistently according to department standards.
4. Operates and maintains equipment in a safe and sanitary condition, following department guidelines, returning to department upon patient discharge.
5. Observes patient during therapies for adverse reactions and acts in accordance with department policy when problems arise. Monitor response to therapy.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

• Associate’s Degree from an accredited college

Required License/Certifications:

• Registered Respiratory Therapist as credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• State of Maryland License of eligibility as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification.
