Expected pay for this position is $31.49 - $37.05/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills, and internal equity.

Overview

PRN Position

Position Summary

The Respiratory Therapist works in accordance with evidenced-based policies and procedures of the Medical Center with all patient populations. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by the prescribing physician, appropriate to all ages of the patients served. Administers medical gases, medications, airway clearance, mechanical ventilation, and other respiratory modalities, monitors supplies and equipment, and applies theoretical knowledge to care for neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, demonstrating competence in respiratory skills, problem solving, and critical thinking.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s degree, successful completion of respiratory therapy program from an accredited school.
• Must have basic electronic medical record documentation skills.
• BLS required; NRP after 6 months of hire. Must be a credentialed Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license and NBRC credentials if credentialed after July 1, 2002, or a new graduate must pass NBRC TMC and CSE exams. Proof of application for licensure must be made before orientation. Licensure must be obtained within six months for new graduates.

Other Skills/Knowledge

• At SAMC Rockford; Respiratory Therapists must obtain NRP and PALS certifications within six months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensure/Certification: BLS preferred for MSS
