Respiratory Therapist Baylor Nights

Job Summary:

  • Assist in training new employees, serve as a reference/mentor to certified respiratory therapists, precept students.
  • Perform complex functions of life support ventilation systems in a manner of quality critical care support consistent with competencies, procedures, and/or protocols.
  • Perform daily maintenance of ABG lab for Joint Commission standards and CLIA.
  • Perform prescribed critical care procedures, documentation of procedures performed, and charge procedures performed.
  • Assist coworkers in maintaining productivity percentage above 100% year-to-date or prescribed by senior leadership.
  • Gather equipment after patient use, clean equipment per manufacturer guidelines, and return equipment to proper storage.
  • Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.
  • Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.
Qualifications

Education:
Requires knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pulmonary physics, pulmonary physiology, advanced respiratory care, mathematics, blood chemistry, and pharmacology at a level generally acquired through completion of a two-year AMA approved program in respiratory therapy. Must be registered (RRT) and have a current Alabama respiratory license.

Experience:
Approximately six to twelve months of progressively more responsible related work experience necessary to gain a complete understanding of respiratory therapy principles and procedures to provide assistance in the resolution of difficult work-related problems. Completes initial and annual competencies and assists with other staff members.

Additional Skills/Abilities:
Recommend being certified in ACLS, PALS, and CPR.
