Job summary

Qualifications

• RRT certification is required; BLS and ACLS are required.
• Georgia Respiratory Care Professional license is required.
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Care experience; 2+ years in Critical Care preferred.
• Core skills include basic respiratory modalities, ABG collection, and EKG.

Responsibilities

• Acts as Respiratory Care Coordinator for the assigned hospital.
• Develops, administers, evaluates and modifies Respiratory Plan of Care.
• Communicates and coordinates with physicians, nurses and other clinicians.
• Maintains certifications (BLS/ACLS) and follows infection prevention measures.
• Prioritizes care delivery during high acuity and assists with patient discharge.

Job Summary

Responsible for administering and managing all forms of respiratory care in accordance with physician orders and current clinical standards. The Respiratory Therapist will function as a leader and care coordinator for respiratory care by administering and recommending care per protocol

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions

• Acts as Respiratory Care Coordinator for Assigned Hospital. Develops, administers, evaluates and modifies Respiratory Plan of Care in the LTAC and In-patient Rehab setting, using evidence-based medicine, protocols and clinical practice guidelines by communicating, collaborating and coordinating with physicians, nurses and other clinicians. Demonstrates competency in invasive and non-invasive critical procedures and equipment. Serves as a respiratory consultant to all hospital departments.
• Demonstrates knowledge of respiratory medications and pharmacologic interactions. Remains current in the field of Respiratory Care. Demonstrates knowledge of clinical chemistries to include ABGs and electrolytes and assists others in the application of results. Skillfully establishes and maintains artificial airways in emergencies. Competent in use and quality control for all point of care analyzers
• Participates in quality improvement. Facilitates patient discharge to appropriate care setting and provides patient and family education. Provides clinical assistance in the orientation of new employees and students in clinical rotations. Provides education to all clinical team members to include physicians and nurses. Maintains Basic and Advanced certifications for BLS and ACLS.
• Has the ability to prioritize and triage delivery of care during times of high acuity. Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills and assures documentation is accurate, legible and in accordance with hospital policy.
• Uses hospital information systems skillfully and complies with security policies. Follows proper handoff procedure for all patients to assure coordination of care. Processes all associated clinical equipment and devices to industry standards and performs routine and basic maintenance with associated documentation. Participates in patient transports in the hospital. Conforms to infection prevention measures
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Education

• Associate's Degree - Respiratory Therapy Required
• Bachelor's Degree - Respiratory Therapy Preferred

Required Minimum License(s) And Certification(s)

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

• RRT Required
• Current American Heart Association , Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
• Current American Heart Association, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Required
• Current Georgia Respiratory Care Professional Required

Required Minimum Experience

• 1 year(s) or more of experience in Respiratory Care Required
• 2 year(s) or more of experience in Critical Care Preferred
