Job Summary

Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates therapeutic respiratory interventions for patients requiring critical care services for acute and chronic cardio-pulmonary diseases. Responsibilities include airway management, blood gas sampling, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, administration of medical gases and pharmacological agents, ventilator management, and participation in hemodynamic monitoring. With approval from the Pulmonary Council and Respiratory Care Department, performs elective and emergency intubations, arterial line insertions, and bedside disposable bronchoscopies. Accepts verbal and phone orders from licensed providers as per policy and initiates therapy based on department protocols. Collaborates with physicians, upper-level providers, RNs, and other healthcare professionals. May be shadowed by healthcare students. Minimum certifications include BLS, with ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire. Other certifications may be required by specific hospital units or locations. Additional practice areas may be added with competency maintenance.

Required Qualifications

• Active State of Florida licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) under Florida Statutes, Chapter 468.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within six (6) months of hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within six (6) months of transfer/hire (Venice Location only).

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team, with creativity and efficiency in planning and execution.
