Job summary

Research Medical Center in the Kansas City area is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist to support diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care. You will administer therapies, monitor patients, document care, and maintain equipment in a team‑oriented hospital setting.

The role requires NBRC-CRT certification and state credentials or an accredited RT degree, with safety and infection control practices as a priority. This is an on‑site position in Overland Park, KS.

Qualifications

• ACLS within 6 months of start date.
• BCLS within 30 days of start date.
• NBRC-CRT certification is required.
• CRT-State / RRT-State credentials or an associate/bachelor degree in RT.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures as ordered by a physician.
• Administer medical gases and aerosol therapy; monitor patient response.
• Collect and analyze blood specimens and perform patient testing.
• Operate and maintain respiratory equipment; document care and infection control.
• Provide patient education and assist with CPR when needed.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general direction of the Director/Supervisor or designee, performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures ordered by a physician. Duties include medical gas administration, aerosol therapy, obtaining and analyzing blood specimens, performing patient testing, operating and maintaining various types of respiratory and cardiopulmonary equipment, assisting with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, providing patient education, monitoring equipment and patient response to therapy. Additional responsibilities include completing patient documentation in the patient and departmental records, to include all computer based documentation. Cleaning equipment and maintaining safety and infection control practices. Accepting other job responsibilities as deemed reasonable by the Director/Supervisor or designee. In this position, the RCP will NOT be providing mechanical ventilation or maintaining artificial airways until they have successfully completed and graduated from their Respiratory Therapy program. The employee will provide care for birth to pediatric, pediatric/child patients between 1 to 11 years of age; adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.

What qualifications you will need

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (NBRC-CRT) Certified Respiratory Therapist
• (CRT-State) Certified Respiratory Therapist, or (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
