Qualifications

• Current Texas licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• NBRC credential (RRT or CRT) as applicable.
• Minimum 2 years of experience within the last 5 years.
• Fluent English required.

Responsibilities

• Utilize respiratory equipment including oxygen systems, humidifiers, nebulizers, spirometers, suction, BiPAP/CPAP/AVAPS devices.
• Provide respiratory care and treatments per physician orders and hospital standards.
• Document respiratory assessments, treatments, and responses in the medical record.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing, rehab therapy on care planning.
• Educate patients and families about respiratory care.
• Adhere to policies, HIPAA, and standards of practice.

Essential Functions:

• Knowledgeable and capable of utilizing respiratory equipment including oxygen delivery systems, humidifiers, nebulizers, spirometers, suction equipment, BiPAP/CPAP/AVAPS devices, and equipment related to tracheostomy care.

• Provides respiratory care and treatments in accordance with physician orders, hospital policies and procedures, and applicable standards of practice.

• Documents respiratory assessments, treatments, interventions, patient response, and other required information in the medical record in accordance with hospital policy.

• Collaborates with physicians, nursing, rehabilitation therapy, and other members of the interdisciplinary team regarding patients' respiratory care needs.

• Organizes and prioritizes tasks and projects; accurately completes position responsibilities within specified time constraints.

• Ability to effectively educate patients, families and peers.

• Professionally interacts with staff, patients, guests, visitors, volunteers, co-workers, supervisors, physicians, contract staff and vendors in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful and cooperative. This behavior supports an atmosphere of teamwork that is congruent with facility standards and guidelines to promote positive relations.

Qualifications:

• Complete familiarity with duties and scope of practice.

• Highly developed observation skills.

• Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.

• Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license issued by the Texas Medical Board

• RRT or CRT credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), as applicable

• Minimum 2 years' experience within the last 5 years

• CPR required, ACLS preferred

• Healthcare Provider AHA BLS required

• Basic to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

• Able to tactfully communicate with staff, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public.
