Job summary

Centerpoint Medical Center Of Independence, Llc in Independence, MO is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures ordered by physicians, including gas administration, aerosol therapy, and patient testing. You will operate and maintain respiratory equipment and provide mechanical ventilation while monitoring patient responses.

The role requires NBRC-CRT certification and an associate degree; BCLS certification is also required.

Qualifications

• BCLS certification required.
• NBRC-CRT certification required.
• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures ordered by a physician.
• Administer medical gas and aerosol therapy.
• Obtain and analyze blood specimens and perform patient testing.
• Operate and maintain respiratory and cardiopulmonary equipment.
• Provide mechanical ventilation and manage artificial airways.
• Assist with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and monitor patient response.
• Document patient care in electronic and departmental records; ensure infection control.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general direction of the Manager/Supervisor or designee, performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures ordered by a physician. Duties include medical gas administration, aerosol therapy, obtaining and analyzing blood specimens, performing patient testing, operating and maintaining various types of respiratory and cardiopulmonary equipment, providing mechanical ventilation, maintaining artificial airways, assisting with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, providing patient education, monitoring equipment and patient response to therapy. Additional responsibilities include completing patient documentation in the patient and departmental records, to include all computerized documentation. Cleaning equipment and maintaining safety and infection control practices.
