Job summary

UVM Health - Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to perform pulmonary diagnostic tests and coordinate DSME needs for clinic patients. The RRT will work independently in the Pulmonary clinic under physician guidance.

The role requires NBRC RRT credential, NYS licensure within one year, and BLS (ACLS preferred). Experience in home care and DME processes is desirable.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Respiratory Program required.
• NBRC credential as RRT required.
• New York State license as RRT or registry eligible; licensure within 1 year required.
• BLS required and ACLS preferred.
• Certified Pulmonary Technologist credential preferred.
• Experience in home care and DME processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of pulmonary diagnostic tests (e.g., pulmonary function, ABG sampling, oximetry, FeNo testing).
• Coordinate and process DSME needs for clinic patients.
• Work independently in the CVPH Pulmonary clinic under physician guidance.

Job description

Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, current bargaining unit employees have priority consideration for this position if they apply within seven (7) days of the posting date. After this period, all applicants will be considered equally.

Primary Shift: 6:00am-4:30pm

Secondary Shifts: 7:00am-3:30pm, 7:30am-4:00pm & 8:00am-4:30pm

General Summary

The Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of pulmonary diagnostic tests, including, but not limited to pulmonary function, arterial blood gas sampling & oximetery, FeNo testing. In addition to the diagnostic testing a significant component of the position is the coordination and processing of DSME needs for clinic patients. The RRT works independently in the CVPH Pulmonary clinic under the guidance of the pulmonary clinic physicians.

Qualifications

Education/Skills Required:

• Graduate of an approved Respiratory Program supported by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care or accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs required.
• Credentialed by NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist required.
• New York State license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or a Registry Eligible Certified Respiratory Technician and receive NYS licensure as a Respiratory Therapist within one year of hire date required.
• BLS required and ACLS preferred.
• Credentialed by NBRC as a Certified Pulmonary Technologist preferred.
• Experience in home care and DME relevant processes preferred.
