Job summary

Lincare Holdings seeks a field-based Healthcare Equipment Specialist to perform timely setups of ventilators, monitors, CPAP units, and oxygen equipment in patients' homes. You will educate patients and maintain accurate records while adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines.

Travel is required using a personal vehicle; you may participate in on-call shifts evenings and weekends. Relevant licenses/certifications may be required per state regulations.

Qualifications

• Excellent human relations to interface with doctors, other referral sources, and patients
• Computer literate
• Clinician authorized within scope of practice to provide patient care services offered by Lincare
• State-specific licensing requirements may apply for CRTs/RRTs

Responsibilities

• Set up highly technical equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and CPAP units in patients' homes or care settings
• Provide technical assistance with equipment
• Set up various oxygen equipment as needed
• Educate patients as part of care and instruction according to Lincare policy
• Maintain complete patient records in accordance with accreditation standards
• Perform complete patient assessments following Lincare policies
• Keep up to date with respiratory homecare techniques and concepts
• Follow Safety & Regulatory Manual policies (OSHA, DOT, FDA, Emergency Planning)
• Represent Lincare professionally through appearance, patient care activities, and reports
• Facilitate prescription collection and coordinate with centers
• Work on-call evenings and weekends as scheduled depending on center size

Job description

This employee performs equipment setups in a timely and professional manner.

• Generally responsible for the setup of highlytechnical equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and CPAP units
  • Also responsible for providing technical assistance with equipment
  • Incumbent may perform setup of all types of oxygen equipment as well
• Provides patient education as an intricate part of the patient care activity according to the patient need andLincare policy, frequently in patients' homes
  • Requires use of a personal vehicle with a valid driver's license
• Performs complete and professional patient assessments in accordance with Lincare policies and procedures
• Maintains current knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques and relevant respiratory therapy concepts
• Follows applicable policies and procedures of the Safety & Regulatory Manual regarding General Safety, OSHA(includes the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment), DOT (driving safety), FDA, and Emergency Planning
• Represents Lincare through professional personal appearance, patient care activities, and content of writtenreports
• Facilitates prescription collection
• Maintains patient records in complete and organized manner in compliance with accreditation standards
• Works on-call evenings and weekends on an as scheduled basis
  • Frequency is determined by the center size andthe number of employees available to share in the responsibility
  • Must respond in a timely manner

Work Experience

• Level 1 - Familiar with equipment and services provided in the home healthcare setting, or other patient care, Required
• Level 2 - Minimum of two years in home healthcare, Required
• Level 3 - Minimum of three years in home healthcare
  • May be involved in training of other Healthcare Specialists, Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Subject to state law/regulation, RNs, LPNs, LVNs, paramedics, EMTs, and other clinicians may also be qualified for this position
  • If applicable, based on the requirements of state, in addition to a valid state license, current National Board of Respiratory Care Credentials may also be required for CRTs and RRTs.
  • Subject to State requirements and management approval, on an exception basis, a person may be hired that does not meet all the above certifications and training, but practices respiratory therapy as authorized by applicable state law

Licenses and Certifications

• Must have completed all training/education required to obtain requisite certification, registration, and/or license described below, Required
• Must remain certified, registered, or licensed by the applicable state and/or national board governing clinical practice or as otherwise permitted by law
• In all states, CRTs and RRTs are qualified for this position, Required
