Position Overview
This position is for a NBRC credentialed professional who provides respiratory care to patients in various settings, following AdaptHealth's policies and procedures. The care provided will be preventative, rehabilitative, and palliative. The Respiratory Therapist will utilize all available resources within the agency and community to meet care objectives.
Job Duties
- Complete all documentation and charting procedures in compliance with ACHC and company policies.
- Review and update Plan of Treatments and Care Plans.
- Document procedures, patient tolerance, side effects, and other relevant information.
- Assist with authorization for CPAP/BiPAP referrals.
- Maintain knowledge of respiratory equipment and demonstrate ability to use it effectively.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues in the field.
- Manage inventory of CPAP/BiPAP supplies.
- Apply clinical assessment skills during set-ups, follow-ups, and in-services.
- Participate in discharge planning for complex cases.
- Perform clinical assessments and communicate findings to physicians and referrals.
- Assist in technical discharges, ensuring smooth patient transitions home.
- Conduct in-services for hospital staff and other professionals.
- Follow up with physicians and referrals, documenting accurately and promptly.
- Adhere to procedures for PPE, infection control, and hazardous materials handling.
- Assume on-call responsibilities as per company policy.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Competent in PAP, Ventilator, Airway Clearance, and Oxygen therapy management.
- Ability to perform clinical assessments and advise physicians.
- Skills in equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Customer service orientation.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Minimum Requirements
- Associates degree from an AMA-approved respiratory program.
- Valid and unrestricted RT license in all serviced states, or an Associate degree in Nursing with a valid LPN or RN license.
- CPR certification.
- At least one year of clinical experience as a Health Care RT, HME RT, or in clinical nursing with Vent experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
