Job summary

AdventHealth in Tavores, Florida is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Night shift on a 13-week contract. Open availability required, with recent critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities include delivering and adjusting respiratory therapies, monitoring patient progress, and managing ventilator settings in a high-acuity environment. Required: Associate degree in Respiratory Care, BLS, and state-specific RRT/CRT credentials; Neonatal or pediatric experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have patient care skills across neonatal to geriatric populations.
• Ventilator management and airway management are preferred/required as indicated.
• Ability to monitor and adjust respiratory therapies per protocol.

Responsibilities

• Deliver routine and continuous respiratory therapy including aerosol, oxygen, and chest physiotherapy.
• Monitor and coach patients before, during, and after treatments.
• Wean and adjust ventilator settings as patient progresses.
• Draw and analyze blood gases; adjust respiratory plans per data.
• Initiate and maintain mechanical ventilation; respond to alarms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

StaffFlex contract, Nights, 13 weeks

$47.60/hr + differentials

Open availability

Recent Respiratory Therapist experience required

• Delivers routine respiratory treatments and continuous respiratory therapy including aerosol therapy, lung expansion therapy, oxygen therapy, and bronchial hygiene.
• Monitors, instructs, and coaches patients before, during, and after treatment delivery.
• Prevents and/or resolves untoward side effects and adjusts therapies according to protocol and documented clinical criteria.
• Reevaluates patient/ventilator interface a minimum of every four hours, responds to alarms, and troubleshoots as needed.
• Establishes weaning readiness and facilitates the weaning process, adjusting ventilator settings in accordance with patient progress.
• Draws and analyzes arterial and capillary blood gases, places arterial lines, and makes or recommends changes in respiratory management according to blood gas results.
• Recommends changes in respiratory plan of care according to documented medical necessity and within established protocols.
• Ensures the effectiveness of therapist assessment and reassessment by monitoring patient progress.
• Makes and/or recommends changes based on pulse oximetry, peak flow measurement, chest x-ray, lab work, and other data relevant to optimal patient progress.
• Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation, determining or guiding the determination of ventilator mode and settings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations are required. [Required]
• Intubations and airway management for all population served [Preferred]
• Ventilator management for all populations served [Preferred]
• Arterial line placements [Preferred]

Education:

• Associate [Required]

Field of Study:

• Must be a graduate of an approved respiratory care program

Work Experience:

• 1+ critical care experience [Preferred]
