Job summary

AdventHealth in Ocala, FL is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide expert care in acute and critical settings. You will assess patients, assist with bronchoscopy, manage ventilators, and educate patients and families on therapy options.

The role requires CRT/RRT, BLS, NICU and pulmonary experience, and strong infection control knowledge. Night shift, full-time at 1500 SW 1ST AVE, Ocala. AdventHealth offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• CRT/RRT certification required/active.
• BLS and CPR certification required; ACLS preferred.
• 1+ year of acute care experience; NICU experience required.
• Knowledge of ventilator management and arterial blood gas analysis.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapies and oxygen delivery as ordered.
• Assist physicians with bronchoscopy procedures and equipment setup.
• Monitor ventilators and adjust settings per protocol.
• Educate patients and families on therapy benefits and risks.
• Respond to Code Blue emergencies and perform CPR per AHA guidelines.

Job Description:

Utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, and chart reviews to determine therapy efficacy and makes appropriate recommendations. Assists physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures, including equipment setup and maintenance. Documents and charges for procedures accurately and thoroughly to meet quality standards. Provides effective patient education on therapy modalities to ensure understanding of care benefits. Demonstrates knowledge of infection control, safe body mechanics, and applicable regulations and standards. Proactively initiates process improvement ideas and assists with clinical instruction and staff precepting. Performs respiratory therapies and oxygen delivery therapies, making recommendations for the most efficient delivery method per protocol. Initiates, maintains, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators, including conventional and non-conventional modes of ventilation. Performs airway maintenance tasks such as manual resuscitators, airway insertion, suctioning, extubation, and tracheostomy procedures. Responds immediately to Code Blue emergencies, providing CPR according to the American Heart Association guidelines. Obtains, analyses, and reports arterial blood gases and co-oximetry findings, performing quality controls as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Education:

Field of Study:

• Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.

Work Experience:

• 1+ years clinical experience in acute care setting [Required]
• Must have NICU experience
• Must have Pulmonary experience

Licenses and Certifications:

• Certified/Registered Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT) [Required]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Preferred]
• Active Certified/Registered Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
