Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a Part-Time Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for the Respiratory Care Services department at our Hyde Park campus in Chicago, IL. The position focuses on adult patient populations and supports night shift coverage with a 0.6 FTE schedule.

Responsibilities include administering respiratory therapies, monitoring patient status, and documenting care in the EPIC system, while following department protocols and physician orders.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care Program (at least two years)
• Diploma or Certificate of Completion and Associate’s Degree
• Demonstrates effective and accurate communication and documentation skills (verbal and written)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NBRC
• Illinois licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner
• Basic Life Support Healthcare provider certification (American Heart Association)
• Neonatal Resuscitation or PALS/ACLS preferred depending on unit

Responsibilities

• Administers respiratory care treatments and procedures per physician orders and department protocols
• Monitors cardiopulmonary status and adjusts care accordingly
• Performs NIV and invasive ventilation management and weaning per policy
• Conducts ABG analysis and ensures quality control and documentation
• Maintains ventilator parameters and patient safety documentation in EPIC
• Provides patient transport support with oxygen delivery systems and equipment
