Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review prescription and patient information to assess patient condition and determine treatment requirements.
• Set up and operate devices including ventilators, nebulizers and compressors.
• Monitor patient response via vital signs and blood chemistry changes.
• Inspect equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation and arrange repairs as needed.
• Provide staff education and demonstrate respiratory care procedures at customer facilities.
• Perform tracheostomy tube changes when required.

Job description

This employee administers respiratory therapy care to long term care residents with abnormalities and deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system according to physician prescription.

Job Responsibilities:

• Review prescription and patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment
• Determine suitable treatment administration and modifications that may be needed, compatible with physician orders
• Set up and operate devices including mechanical ventilators, nebulizers, and/or compressors
• Operate equipment to ensure specified parameters of treatment such as volume, oxygen concentration, and/or temperature
• Monitor patient response to therapy via vital sign and blood chemistry changes
• Observe equipment function and adjust equipment to obtain optimal results
• Consult with physician in event of adverse reaction
• Inspect and test respiratory therapy equipment to ensure it is functioning safely and efficiently
• Order repairs when needed
• Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees
• Perform staff education at customer facilities
• Perform tracheostomy tube changes

Licenses:

• Active State Respiratory Care Practitioner license

Educationand Experience:

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Previous related work experience
