Job summary

Fowler Care Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures, interpret physician orders, assess resident needs, and evaluate resident responses. The role functions as a consultant, educator, and clinician to clinical staff.

Responsibilities include ventilation and oxygen therapy, airway management, and safe administration of respiratory care. You will collaborate with nursing leadership, contribute to care planning, and support discharge

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist in the practicing state.
• High school diploma required.
• Ventilator unit experience preferred; long-term care experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants, providers and the community.
• Current knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care, diagnostics, education, and psychosocial support.
• Provides safe administration of respiratory care including intermittent and continuous therapy, mechanical ventilation, airway management and monitoring.
• Sets up and administers medical gases, ventilation supports and related devices in home and facility settings.
• Follows rehab department clinical management, including case management, quality improvement and care planning.
• Manages reimbursement, billing and records related to respiratory services.
• Collaborates with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice and trains staff as needed.
• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates respiratory therapy care and life support for residents.
• Coordinates equipment orders and documentation with referral sources, physicians and families.
• Develops discharge plans and follows up on maintenance and visits for respiratory equipment.
• Assesses developmental needs across life span and adjusts care accordingly.
• Provides general medical equipment and supplies as ordered by physicians.
