Job summary

Rockport Healthcare Services seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide routine and specialized respiratory care for residents in a long-term care setting. The role emphasizes assessment, treatment delivery, and equipment management in collaboration with physicians and care teams.

You will perform procedures such as IPPB, oxygen delivery, nebulization, chest physiotherapy, and monitor ventilatory support, while maintaining records and ensuring safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Current California Respiratory License and NBRC credentialing.
• BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
• Ability to work under stress and in emergency situations.
• Must be able to drive and travel as necessary.
• Proficient in basic computer use and Microsoft Office.
• Minimum of 1 year paid respiratory experience in an acute and/or subacute unit preferred.

Responsibilities

• Explain purpose and procedure of treatments to residents, caregivers, and family members.
• Use growth and development knowledge to anticipate needs of adults and elderly residents.
• Perform physician-prescribed respiratory treatments (IPPB, oxygen devices, nebulizers) to administer prescribed vapors, humidity and oxygen.
• Perform chest physical therapy to mobilize secretions and clear airways.
• Set up, operate and monitor ventilators when needed.
• Record all treatments and resident responses in medical records.
• Maintain and clean respiratory care equipment; perform preventative maintenance as required.
• Participate in Hazardous Materials Program and QI activities.
• Attend IDT meetings and communicate care needs.
• Maintain respiratory logs and respond to deficiencies in respiratory supply management.

Education

California Respiratory License

NBRC Credential

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

ACLS Certification (preferred)

Ability to work under stress and in emergencies

Ability to drive and travel as necessary

Proficiency in basic computer use and MS Office

Minimum 1 year respiratory experience in acute/subacute units
