Job summary

Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY, seeks a Respiratory Therapist to perform basic and advanced therapeutic procedures, monitor patient data from charts, and prepare medications using metric measurements.

You will coordinate patient care with physicians and nursing staff, transcribe and implement orders, and apply assessment skills to anticipate needs. BLS is required; ACLS/NRP/PALS are preferred; NYS licensure and CRT/RRT credentials are expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school for Respiratory Care.
• Familiarity with acid/base relationships and life-threatening precautions preferred.
• Ability to establish ventilator settings using metric principles preferred.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic/advanced therapeutic procedures.

Location: Samaritan Medical Center Department: 01.7421 SMC RESPIRATORY THERAPY Pay Range: $36.03 - $45.85

Care for our community, and your career. Performs basic/advanced therapeutic procedures. Accurately monitors/evaluates pertinent information from patient's charts, and computes/prepares medications using basic principles of metric system. Coordinates patient care needs with physicians/nursing staff. Transcribes/implements physician orders. Uses basic/advanced assessment skills/patient information to maintain awareness and coordinate patient care needs. Troubleshoots and takes steps to correct clinical problems; refers unusual circumstances to supervision.

Job Requirements

• Minimum Education Requirement: Graduate of a school for Respiratory Care.
• Minimum Experience Requirement: Prior experience preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of acid/base/electrolyte relationships and implications of life threatening situations preferred, not required.
• Establishes patient ventilator settings using metric measurements/advanced principles of volume, flow, pressure, time relationships preferred, not required.
• Minimum License Requirement: BLS certification required.
• ACLS, NRP and PALS preferred.
• Appropriate NYS licensure.
• CRT - Certified by National Board for Respiratory Care.
• RRT - Registered by National Board for Respiratory Care.
