Qualifications

The community you’ll be caring for:

  • AdventHealth Connerton, a specialty hospital for medically complex patients
  • Pulmonary and Vapotherm Center of Excellence
  • Staff includes all Registered Respiratory Therapists, with 65% holding BSN or above RN degrees; current certifications include CCRN, PCCN, CNML, WCNC, NEA-BC, and RN-BC
  • Onsite BSN completion program partnership with South University at staff discounted rates
  • Simulation Lab and Clinical Transition Pilot Program

The role you’ll contribute:

The Respiratory Therapist Advanced performs all necessary respiratory care procedures associated with acute or critically ill neonatal and pediatric care, as well as mid-level higher acuity adult care. The therapist can work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, applying knowledge and skills to provide appropriate therapy, including life support techniques and equipment. Minimum competency in all advanced clinical skills must be exceeded. The therapist actively participates in customer service and maintains respectful relationships with staff, patients, and families of all ages. Adheres to hospital compliance plans and all applicable regulations.

  • Proactively initiates process improvements and assists with clinical instruction and precepting of new staff, serving as a resource for lower-level therapists
  • Supports hospital and department mission, goals, and metrics
  • Practices standard precautions and enforces safety regulations
  • Documents procedures accurately and thoroughly
  • Responds immediately to Code Blue emergencies, providing CPR and performing airway management procedures
  • Utilizes patient assessment skills to determine therapy efficacy and recommends adjustments per protocol
  • Performs arterial blood gases analysis, quality controls, and monitors as ordered

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • Graduate from an AMA-approved program by the National Board of Respiratory Care in Respiratory Therapy (AAS or AS required)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required or CRT eligible, with RRT credential obtained within 12 months of hire
  • American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications required
