Summary

Under the direction of department management and according to policies and procedures, the Respiratory Therapist II demonstrates advanced knowledge in respiratory care. The role involves administering competent care of patients through airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and other respiratory procedures.

Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory care including aerosol medication delivery, bedside pulmonary function testing, breathing exercises, oxygen therapy, and arterial punctures. Manage airways including tracheostomy care, tube changes, intubations, and extubations. May perform pulmonary function testing.
• Work on-call days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Perform ventilator care, set up ventilators, verify function, and monitor patients, including weaning techniques.
• Maintain and improve knowledge and skills. Work independently and serve as a resource to other staff.

Minimum Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC. Candidates with CRT certification and extensive experience may also qualify.
• At least two years of professional experience as a Respiratory Therapist.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to interpret clinical and technical information, document clinical data, communicate effectively, and apply mathematical concepts. Strong reasoning skills are essential.

Job Details

Part-time, Night shift, onsite in Clayton, NC. Salary range: $30.73 - $44.18/hour. Employment by NC Health, a subsidiary of UNC Health Care System. No overtime exemption. Equal opportunity employer.
