Job description

Position Summary

Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist who assesses, treats, and cares for patients with breathing disorders. The role involves initiating and conducting therapeutic procedures, maintaining patient records, and operating respiratory equipment.

Qualifications
Essential Functions
  1. Demonstrate competency in respiratory therapeutics, including the use of non-invasive ventilators, pulmonary diagnostics, and other necessary equipment.
  2. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care and procedures.
  3. Exhibit strong analytical reasoning skills, blending patient care management with technical expertise.
  4. Communicate effectively with all healthcare team members.
  5. Perform quality control and maintenance of arterial blood gas analyzers, including specimen collection and analysis for gas transport and acid/base determinations.
  6. Maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with hospital policies and relevant regulations.
  7. Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
  1. Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge and skills suitable for the patient's age and medical condition.
  2. Demonstrate expertise in medical gas administration, environmental control systems, humidification, medication delivery, non-invasive ventilatory support, and CPR.
  3. Instruct clinical practicum students as needed.
  4. Assess patient data accurately, reflecting understanding of growth and development across the lifespan.
  5. Interpret information to identify patient needs based on age-specific requirements and provide appropriate care following departmental policies.
