Job summary

Cooper University Health Care in New Jersey is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with post-graduate respiratory care training to support pediatric and adult critical care. The role emphasizes patient assessment, ventilatory support, and gas delivery systems within a busy hospital setting.

Requirements include an AMA-approved respiratory care program graduate with an Associate degree, NJ-RESP license, and current BLS/ACLS.

Qualifications

• Post Respiratory Care program graduate.
• 1-2 years preferred Pediatric and Adult critical care experience.
• Graduate of an AMA Approved Respiratory Care Program with Associates.
• Current NJ-RESP license with valid BLS and ACLS.

Responsibilities

• Patient assessment and monitoring of mechanical ventilatory support.
• Non-invasive ventilation, administration of medical gas delivery systems (heliOx, nitric oxide, oxygen).
• Humidification, aerosol therapy, airway management, and delivery of inhaled/instilled meds.
• Chest physical therapy, vest therapy, IPV therapy, and in-exsufflator therapy.
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, arterial blood gas collection/analysis, transcutaneous PO2/PCO2 monitoring.
• Pulse oximetry monitoring and trend analysis, ventilatory weaning, peak flow monitoring.
• Assist with bedside tracheostomies and bronchoscopy.
• Internal and external patient transport; patient and family education.

Education

Associates in Respiratory Care or equivalent

High School diploma or GED

Short Description

Patient assessment, mechanical ventilatory support monitoring, non-invasive ventilation support, administration of medical gas delivery systems (i.e.: heliox, nitric, oxygen compressed air, etc...).

Humidification and aerosol therapy, airway management, delivery of aerosolized & instilled medications, chest physical therapy, vest therapy, IPV therapy, in-exsuffalator therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, arterialblood gas acquisition & analysis, Transcutaneous pc02 & po2monitoring, pulse oximetry monitoring & trending, ventilatory weaning, peak flow monitoring, assist with bedside tracheostomies, and bronchoscopy.

Internal and external patient transporting, patient and family education.

Experience Required

Post Respiratory Care program graduate.

1-2 years preferred Pediatric and Adult critical care experience.

Education Requirements

High School diploma or GED and Graduate of an AMA Approved Respiratory Care Program - Associates.

License/Certification Requirements

Current NJ-RESP - New Jersey State Respiratory Care Board License.

Valid BLS and ACLS
