Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital Respiratory Care Department invites applications for a Respiratory Therapist. The position supports infants and children with acute and chronic disease states across the hospital, including critical care settings.

The successful candidate will hold an Associate of Science in Respiratory Therapy, be licensed in Massachusetts, and hold NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials; BS degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate of Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy is required; BS degree preferred.
• One or more years of Respiratory Therapist experience in a tertiary hospital preferred; NICU/PICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory care and ventilation to infants/children.
• Apply and monitor mechanical ventilation.
• Provide respiratory therapy in critical care, inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings.
• Provide patient care in assigned clinical area and complete duties.
• Communicate with care team, patients and family, and co-workers.
• Participate in professional development and departmental ladder opportunities including ECMO specialist positions.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory care and assisted ventilation to infants and children with acute and chronic disease states in all areas of the hospital, following prescribed treatment.
• Apply and monitor mechanical ventilation.
• Provide respiratory therapy in critical care, inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings.
• Provide patient care in assigned clinical area and complete associated duties.
• Communicate with care team, patients and their family members, and co-workers.
• Participate in professional development and opportunities for advancement within departmental career ladder, including ECMO specialist positions.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Associate of Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy required; graduates of a BS Degree Respiratory Therapy program preferred.

Experience

• One or more years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience in a Tertiary Hospital preferred; recent graduates of an AS or BS Degree Respiratory Therapy program are also encouraged to apply.
• NICU and PICU experience preferred. NPS, PALS, NRP, and ACLS preferred.

Licensure/Certification

• Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Licensed by the State of Massachusetts is required.

Schedule: 36 hours per week, rotating day/night shifts, every third weekend.

**This position is eligible for full-time benefits $20,000 sign-on bonus (not eligible for internal candidates and not eligible for former BCH employees who worked here in the past 2 years)

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good‑faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
