Job summary

Diversicare in Moss Point, MS is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our post-acute care team. You will set up and operate respiratory equipment, administer treatments, and maintain patient documentation while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support residents' respiratory health.

The role requires a JRCRTE-approved program, clinical experience, ability to perform independent procedures, strong communication, CPR certification, and applicable state licensure.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a JRCRTE-approved respiratory care program.
• Clinical experience as provided by a JRCRTE-approved school or respiratory care.
• Ability to render independent professional respiratory care procedures.
• Clinical evaluation skills required.
• Strong communication skills required.
• Active member of the AARC preferred.
• CRTT, RRT, or NBRC exam candidate to sit for CRTT/RRT exam.
• State licensure as required. CPR required.

Responsibilities

• Understand and practice safe respiratory care techniques.
• Set up respiratory equipment and supplies (Oxygen, Aerosol, Suction, Ventilators, etc.).
• Provide treatment to maintain or improve residents' respiratory function.
• Maintain timely resident reports as required by regulatory agencies.
• Complete documentation related to evaluations and care conferences.
• Operate and maintain equipment safely and efficiently.
• Educate staff and caregivers on equipment use and maintenance.
• Coordinate pickup/return of equipment for maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Understand and practices safe respiratory care techniques.
• Performs initial set up of respiratory equipment and supplies Oxygen, Aerosol, Suction, Ventilators, DiPAP, etc for residents in nursing homes.
• Provide appropriate treatment to help residents maintain or attain the highest level of respiratory function possible within the confines of his/her physical condition.
• Maintain timely and accurate resident reports as required by federal, state and local regulatory agencies and third party payers.
• Assume duties related to completion of minimum data set assessments as assigned.
• Complete documentation related to evaluations, treatment plans, MDS assessments, resident care conference and rehabilitation conferences as scheduled.
• Set up, clean, assemble, maintain, and operate equipment in a safe manner.
• Demonstrates and educates new and existing clients and caregivers on proper use and maintenance of equipment.
• Coordinate the pick up and return of equipment for preventative maintenance and repair.
• Provides in-services and training to LTC facility staff and community.
• Responsible for trach changes as specified in the policy and procedure.
• Oversee routine maintenance of facility owned equipment per policy and procedures.
• Maintain adequate supply of respiratory equipment and disposable supplies.
• Participates in facility departmental in-services and education classes. Attend all mandatory in-serviceclasses.
• Assist in obtaining physician documentation as needed.
• Conducts, participates in and documents, as appropriate, meetings with associates and LTC facility staff as needed.
• Participate in implementation of programs to improve resident care related to quality indicators.
• Meets all state requirements for obtaining and maintaining professional licensure.
• Performs CPR and maintains current CPR certification.
• Maintains personal competency levels for all respiratory therapy modalities.
• Communicates matters concerning respiratory care and treatment to appropriate interdisciplinary team members.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
• Complies with Universal Precautions and Blood Borne Pathogens regulations.
• Follow resident’s rights policies at all times.

Qualifications

• Graduateof a Joint Review Committee for Respiratory Therapy Education (JRCRTE)approved program of respiratory care required.
• Clinical experience as provided by a JRCRTE approved school or respiratory care.
• Ability,as certified by his/her supervisor, to render independent professional/respiratory care procedures.
• Clinicalevaluation skills required.
• Strong communication skills required.
• Active member of the AARC preferred.
• CRTT, RRT, or proof of application to the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) to sit for the Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT) examrequired.
• State license as required. CPR required.
