The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing patient/client respiratory equipment needs and the selection, instruction, and troubleshooting of appropriate equipment and/or services to meet those needs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols, as well as current government regulations and professional standards regarding patient care.
- Assess patient/client needs and determine the best equipment and/or services to meet those needs.
- Involve the patient/client and/or family or caregiver in the selection process.
- Instruct patients/clients on the proper use and care of the equipment according to policies and procedures.
- Communicate with the patient's/client's physician regarding changes in condition and adjust the Plan of Care/Treatment accordingly.
- Complete patient/client documentation, including the Plan of Care/Treatment and assessments, and maintain records according to company policy.
- Act as a liaison between the company, patient/client, family, caregiver, physician, and other healthcare providers.
- Participate in educational meetings and seminars for healthcare workers, patients, families, and community members.
- Assist in resolving emergency patient equipment problems.
- Perform preventive maintenance, service checks, and environmental assessments of home respiratory equipment during scheduled visits.
- Provide clinical respiratory services as ordered, including care planning, assessments, discharge planning, training, therapy, and education to reduce hospital readmissions.
- Monitor respiratory supply levels and reorder stock as needed.
- Take on-call responsibilities during non-business hours as per company policy.
- Develop technical knowledge of respiratory products/services and educate others about them.
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
- Maintain current licensure in all applicable states.
- Market the company's services professionally and positively.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory care program.
- Preferred: Two years of hospital-based respiratory care experience.
- Preferred: One year of home care experience.
- Thorough knowledge of respiratory care.
- Ability to supervise clinical personnel effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Understanding of insurance requirements (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance).
Pay Rate: Starting at $34/hr, based on experience + $5000 sign-on bonus.
