This position involves patient care in critical care areas, step-down units, general care units, and during critical care transports.
Education required: High School Diploma or GED
License, certification, and/or registration: Must be licensed by the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy and certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care. BLS certification is preferred and required within 90 days of hire or transfer. ACLS and PALS certifications are also preferred.
Experience: Clinical experience from respiratory therapy education, with the ability to function in critical settings, including initiation and support of mechanical ventilation. Additional experience in intubation and critical care transport is preferred.
Additional skills/abilities: Excellent communication skills are required, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and adapt quickly. Ability to perform procedures related to bronchial hygiene, oxygen therapy, respiratory diagnostics, and mechanical ventilation at all levels.
