Job summary

Ochsner Health System Careers in Crowley, LA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support for in-patients and out-patients from neonatal to geriatric.

You will monitor and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, draw and analyze arterial blood gases and EKGs, educate patients and coworkers, and perform duties with current certifications and in accordance with policies.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required.
• Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist credential.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) for NICU role.
• ACLS and PALS required within 90 days of hire.
• Strong data entry and Windows application skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced respiratory therapy procedures according to established policy.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information regarding each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides care across age ranges from neonatal to geriatric.
• Maintains professional certifications and up-to-date knowledge of procedures.
• Attends staff meetings and performs other duties as required.
