Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner to join MedStar Washington Hospital Center. The ideal candidate is a certified respiratory therapist with knowledge of respiratory care protocols and equipment use across patient ages.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with physicians and team members to ensure high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include performing therapies, assessing patients, monitoring equipment, and participating in CPR when needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from AMA accredited respiratory care program.
• CRT NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist or NBRC RPT with eligibility.
• BLS required; ACLS, NRP and PALS within one year of hire.
• Registry eligible; bachelor’s degree preferred; RRT/ NBRC certification encouraged.
• Prior acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and document educational requirements and care plans.
• Perform respiratory therapies: oxygen, humidity, ventilator care, bronchial hygiene and spirometry.
• Operate respiratory equipment and monitor patients across age groups.
• Communicate clearly with teams; participate in crisis interventions and CPR.
• Review orders and ensure workflow efficiency and compliance.
