CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs all assigned therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as ordered by a physician, including but not limited to: basic respiratory therapy and oxygen therapy (including daily oxygen rounds, optiflow titrations, pulse oximetry monitoring for oxygen titration needs, and arranging for home oxygen therapy); bronchodilator therapy following protocols and patient assessment; acts as a backup for EKG performance.
- Performs therapeutic and diagnostic procedures for the pediatric floor, including daily pulse oximetry and titration, bronchodilator therapy, RSV and asthma protocols and education; manages oxygen therapy in nursery settings including oxygen hood, nasal CPAP, and ventilator management (both invasive and non-invasive). Must attend a minimum of 3 normal child births during orientation.
- Verifies physician orders for therapy to ensure completeness and appropriateness.
- Documents all procedures and patient information accurately in patient and department records following hospital policies.
- Performs arterial blood gas sampling via direct puncture or arterial line, analyzes ABG and co-oximetry results, and makes informed decisions regarding oxygenation and ventilation.
- Performs quality control, proficiency testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of blood gas analyzers.
- Assists in cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts and other emergencies requiring respiratory care procedures.
- Maintains professional growth through internal/external in-service programs, pursuing certifications or registries, and reading relevant journals.
- Attends at least 80% of department meetings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- Wyoming Respiratory Therapy License.
