Qualifications

• Requires degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited program.
• NBRC credentialing is required or maintained.
• Current state licensure or multi-state licensure privileges.
• RRT credential with NBRC is required and active.
• BLS certification is required; site-specific specialties may be required.
• Certifications such as NRP, ACLS, PALS may be required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients with cardiopulmonary disorders and sleep-related issues.
• Provide therapeutic interventions and monitor responses to therapy.
• Educate patients to promote self-management and improve quality of life.
• Collect and analyze samples to determine oxygen, CO2, and gas levels.
• Monitor equipment and adjust therapy as directed by care plans.

Education

Degree in Respiratory Care (or equivalent)

NBRC credential

State licensure to practice Respiratory Therapy

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Advanced certifications (NRP/ACLS/PALS)
