Job summary

Amberwell Atchison is seeking a Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Respiratory Therapist (CRRT) for a part-time, benefit-eligible role in Atchison, KS. The RT designs and implements treatment plans for patients with chronic heart and lung conditions, supervises oxygen therapies and ventilators, and supports the patient’s quality of life.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree).
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care.
• Licenses: KSBHA license and NBRC credentials (CRRT).
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS.

Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment: Conduct initial evaluations and ongoing physical assessments, measuring blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels before, during, and after exercise.
• Cardiac Monitoring: Interpret ECG to monitor heart rhythms and watch for signs of exercise intolerance, arrhythmias, or ischemia.
• Patient Education: Develop individualized recovery plans and educate patients/families on heart‑healthy habits, medications, and diet.
• Emergency Response: Prepare for and initiate ACLS and emergency care protocols if patients experience adverse cardiac events.

Job Description

The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Respiratory Therapist (CRRT) is a specialized allied health professional who designs and implements custom treatment plans for patients with chronic heart and lung conditions. They evaluate respiratory function, monitor vitals during therapeutic exercises, and manage equipment such as oxygen therapies and ventilators to improve patients’ overall quality of life.

Core Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment: Conduct initial evaluations and ongoing physical assessments, measuring blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels before, during, and after exercise.
• Cardiac Monitoring: Interpret ECG to monitor heart rhythms and watch for signs of exercise intolerance, arrhythmias, or ischemia.
• Patient Education: Develop individualized recovery plans and educate patients/families on heart‑healthy habits, medications, and diet.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Work closely with a wider medical team, including exercise physiologists, dietitians, and cardiologists.

• Minimum Required Experience: None
• Preferred Experience: One year critical care or cardiac care experience as an RT

Education

• Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree).
• Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care

Licenses

• Minimum Required Licenses: KSBHA license
• Minimum Required Credentials: Certified Respiratory Therapist from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Preferred Credentials: Registered Respiratory Therapy from the NBRC.

Certifications
