Responsibilities

• Render respiratory care based on physician orders and collaboration.
• Establish and maintain a patent airway in patients with respiratory difficulties.
• Make routine rounds to ensure patient comfort during respiratory care.
• Respond promptly to all unit calls for respiratory services.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including equipment setup.
• Document care activities in medical records and departmental forms.
• Assemble, clean, and disinfect respiratory care equipment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the rendering of respiratory care and associated diagnostic services ordered by and in collaboration with physicians and other members of the healthcareteam.
• Must be able to establish and maintain a patent airway in residents/patients exhibiting respiratory difficulty.
• Makes routine rounds to ascertain the comfort and well-being of residents/patients receiving respiratory care.
• Responds promptly to all unit calls requesting respiratory care services.
• Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as, usage of monitoring devices, performing bedside pulmonary function studies, setting up various respiratory equipment and ventilators, tracheotomy care, etc.
• Documents appropriately in medical record, and on various departmental forms as required.
• Assembles, cleans, and disinfects respiratory care equipment used to perform his/her duties.
