• Minimum of three years’ acute care hospital experience, with at least one year in critical care.

The role you’ll contribute:

Competently performs clinical patient assessment related to the job title. Delivers therapy to patients, including medicated aerosol treatments, EKGs, and arterial blood gases. Manages oxygen therapy, performs adult and infant intubations, and manages mechanical ventilators per protocol or by following physician-specific orders. Assesses patients for respiratory protocol to determine proper type and frequency of respiratory treatments. Completes patient documentation in the computer charting system, including interdisciplinary education and plan of care. Responds to code blue and rapid response calls.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Responsible for delivering care to patients with conditions affecting their respiratory status, including aerosolized medication, oxygen therapy, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and lung function testing. Responsible for blood gas analysis.
• Responds to rapid response, code blue, and performs CPR.
• If filling in as “Lead” for a shift, reviews workload, assists in staffing decisions, makes staff assignments, and acts as a resource for technical questions. Ensures shift tasks are completed, ECGs are removed from the list, and overdue tasks and medications are addressed.
• Responsible for following regulatory requirements in the blood gas lab, running quality controls, and changing analyzer cartridges.
• Demonstrates proper time management and prioritization skills.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

• Graduate of an approved respiratory therapy program prior to licensure or grandfathered in.
• Basic computer skills, including Word and Excel, and medical record documentation.
• Knowledge of mechanical and non-invasive ventilation.
• Minimum of three years’ acute care hospital experience, with at least one year in critical care.
• Recent experience in a hospital setting within the last 3 years.
• RRT or CRT Florida State License.
• Continued education to meet licensure regulatory requirements.
• BLS and NRP certifications; if NRP is not held, it must be obtained within six months of hire.
