Job summary

Christiana Care Health System is seeking a licensed Respiratory Therapist for Christiana Hospital with rotations to Wilmington Hospital as needed. The role requires collaboration with the health care team to deliver respiratory therapy and patient care.

Shift is overnights (6:30pm - 7:00am), with every 3rd weekend and holiday. Licensure in the practice state is required and BLS certification must be maintained.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CoArc approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
• Respiratory Licensure in the state of practice required (Delaware, Maryland, etc.).
• Maintain Current BLS Certification, Active CRT or RRT credential.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents basic clinical assessments on admission and during stay.
• Assesses patient/family learning needs and carries out teaching measures.
• Initiates and follows a basic plan of care based on assessment and diagnosis.
• Delivers respiratory modalities and medications safely and documents care in the medical record.
• Communicates with patients and families in a respectful manner to implement the plan of care.
• Interacts with care teams to optimize patient outcomes and demonstrate empathy.

Shift

• Over nights (6:30pm - 7:00am)
• Every 3rd weekend and holiday required.
• This position is at Christiana Hospital with rotations to Wilmington Hospital as needed.

Primary Function

This role is for the respiratory therapist who is licensed, professional, competent, and assumes responsibility and accountability for providing respiratory therapy using a defined process in collaboration with the health care team.

Principle Responsibilities

• Performs and documents a basic clinical assessment of patients on admission and throughout hospital stay according to established standards.
• Assesses patient/family learning needs and carries out teaching measures as indicated.
• Initiates and follows a basic plan of care based on assessment and diagnosis.
• Communicates with and works on behalf of patients/families in a dignified, respectful manner to ensure effective implementation of the plan of care.
• Administers all respiratory modalities and medications in a safe and effective manner
• Provides therapy to patients and documents care delivery in the medical record.
• Interacts with patients, families, co-workers, management, physicians, and ancillary department staff in a compassionate and humanistic manner, demonstrating empathy, sensitivity, patience, and mutual respect.
• Demonstrates basic delegation skills to other personnel in a manner that optimizes patient care.
• Assumes an active role to keep informed about changes in policies, procedures and equipment, follows planned educational programs, and is willing to be taught, coached, and/or mentored by others.
• Aware of patient rights and protects the patient/family rights and confidentiality.
• Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established CCHS and departmental safety practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Graduate of a CoArc approved School of Respiratory Therapy
• Respiratory Licensure in the state of practice required (Delaware,
  Maryland, etc.)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Maintain Current BLS Certification
• Current AARC Member preferred
• Maintains active certified Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or CRT Credential.

This position pays $36.21 to $55.40 based on experience.This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
