Job summary

ChristianaCare in Newark, DE is seeking a licensed Respiratory Therapist to provide patient-focused respiratory care on nights at Christiana Hospital with occasional rotations to Wilmington Hospital.

You will perform clinical assessments, administer modalities, document care, and educate patients and families while collaborating with the health care team.

Certification in BLS required; active CRT or RRT credentials and state licensure; salary from $36.21 to $55.40 per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CoARC approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
• Respiratory Licensure in the state of practice required (Delaware, Maryland, etc.).
• Maintain Current BLS Certification.
• Current AARC Member preferred.
• Maintains active certified Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or CRT Credential.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents a basic clinical assessment of patients on admission and throughout hospital stay according to established standards.
• Assesses patient/family learning needs and carries out teaching measures as indicated.
• Initiates and follows a basic plan of care based on assessment and diagnosis.
• Communicates with and works on behalf of patients/families in a dignified, respectful manner to ensure effective implementation of the plan of care.
• Administers all respiratory modalities and medications in a safe and effective manner.
• Provides therapy to patients and documents care delivery in the medical record.
• Interacts with patients, families, co-workers, management, physicians, and ancillary department staff in a compassionate and humanistic manner, demonstrating empathy, sensitivity, patience, and mutual respect.
• Demonstrates basic delegation skills to other personnel in a manner that optimizes patient care.
• Assumes an active role to keep informed about changes in policies, procedures and equipment, follows planned educational programs, and is willing to be taught, coached, and/or mentored by others.
• Aware of patient rights and protects the patient/family rights and confidentiality.
• Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established CCHS and departmental safety practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

Shift

• Over nights (6:30pm – 7:00am)
• Every 3rd weekend and holiday required.
• This position is at Christiana Hospital with rotations to Wilmington Hospital as needed.

Primary Function

This role is for the respiratory therapist that is licensed, professional, competent, and assumes responsibility and accountability for providing respiratory therapy using a defined process in collaboration with the health care team.

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
