Job description

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Registered Respiratory Therapy Practitioner I provides optimum respiratory care for patients with respiratory disorders and performs therapy as ordered by the physician in accordance with current departmental policies. This position treats/cares for patients of all ages. Acts as relief shift supervisor when required. Maintains department productivity levels by monitoring workloads throughout the shift.

Qualifications

Minimum:

• Completed internship in acute care facility including NICU and infant deliveries.
• Position will be required to supervise and have the ability to work in all critical areas including the NICU.
• Graduate of a two year American Medical Association approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
• The therapist must have passed the written Registry Examination and the clinical simulation exam provided by the NBRC and received their RRT credential
• Current CA License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Current BLS Card from the American Heart Association
• NRP and Stable certification will be required to work in NICU and will be provided after hire.
• Must be certified in CPR (may also obtain up to three months after hire).
• Maintain current license with Respiratory Care Examining Committee.

Preferred:

• Worked in acute care 1-2 years.
• Experience with nitric oxide use in the NICU preferred but will train.
• Experience in intubations (adult, pediatric and infant), arterial puncture, arterial line draws, high frequency ventilation preferred but will train.
• Member of American Association of Respiratory Therapists and California Society of Respiratory Therapists preferred, but not required.
• Current PALS and ACLS highly recommended.
